Are IPL Matches Fixed?

The Spot-fixing scandal and stories behind the curtains are not new to the mega event of IPL. From 2016 to 2018, CSK, the 6 times IPL title winner was banned under such activities. After that, CSK became champion again. It may raise many eyebrows for some reason. Even CSK players are often annoyed despite poor performances for winning a match.

Mumbai Indians have mega-rich ownership of them. They are 5-time winners. The team

management is capable enough to afford any element of the tournament.

Many matches have been played in Mumbai for the last IPL seasons. The NI owner has the best pool of players performing well enough. They can afford the best talent in the world of cricket for every season. Many things are managed with money power, including the game.

The IPL broadcast rights are also an affair of some crore rupees. So who will not do anything to survive and grow as a successful franchise on every level of the great tournament? There has always been a big competition out there for the broadcasting deal.

The Stories Inside

Let us start the story insights with the super-rich franchise Mumbai Indians. In the 2020 IPL final, they won with a fair stance. No other way or foul play was there. Such giants always deliver some legacy.

The story is not always set for the IPL Final, maybe.

In the 2019 IPL final, only 2 runs on a ball were required and Shardul Thakur was on the striking end. He missed a full-toss ball. This gives a clear victory easily to MI. Is it worth it to accept that he will miss such a chance?

Another story is all about the 2017 IPL final. Mumbai set a target of 130. It was achievable quietly. Steve Smith and Manoj Tiwary were at the crease to do 13 runs out of six balls. It was an achievable task. But still, MI won that final. We never know how this works.

MI loses 5 matches in a row. Still, they made it to the Playoff. How did this happen? The script plays its part.

In 2014, the IPL match against MI and RR. They needed 189 runs to chase against RR. Anyone can detect the winner upon watching the entire match many times. The way it was fixed was very natural and decent. The stadium was Wankhede, mumbai. The home ground crowd of more than 25k and team management took care of the managed win, one can analyze. It was fixed without the knowledge of the RR team and coaches.

Even the RR owner, then, got decent money to lose on such a match-winning score. The owner started a huge new business with this reward later on.

Fans are the real part of the IPL. Some teams feel that they are the best, and some teams feel they are the worst. But there are always between the lines. The IPL title has always been manageable.

By all the above stories, one can check the reality of IPL results in favor of a certain franchise.

No coincidence in any phase of the IPL event every time can be observed.

At the Auction of IPL 2022, All franchisees were not able to buy a player like Jefra Archer, but MI suddenly reserved him along with Bumrah. This is not natural or by chance. Money makes wonders- this is a fact in IPL.

IPL organizer BCCI has made loads of money by overlooking their franchisees in all seasons.

Now remember the match in 2016, down memory lane for you, Punjab Xi against Pune Supergiants led by MSD. They were not performing well in that particular IPL season. The bowler was an underperformer during those days, Axar Patel having poor performance with low economy per over. Dhoni hit 3 sixes and a four in his over to chase down the required 23 runs so easily. Dhoni is unstoppable always. He has done the same against Corey Anderson, Unadkut, Umesh Yadav, and Abdul Samad.

CSK made a return in IPL 2018 with Bravo’s performance over MI’s match. This is a genuine effort and a good memory to cherish.

In the case of the RCB team, they have a history of giving no-balls at crucial match points to lose a match against even a traditional rival of theirs. The last ball and two runs are needed to win, where the RCB side bowler bowls a No-BAll. This incident happens only in the game of Cricket, not in the other kind of sports.

One can never imagine how an RCB bowler bowls a No-ball to offer an easy win to his opponent’s team at that moment.

Some teams are still away from the IPL teams like RCB, Delhi Daredevils, and Punjab Kings.

Some social media tweets are also creating stories before a match in advance by the team decision of bowling charge etc. Such an event creates suspense among fans and viewers of IPL.

Close Encounters so frequently

IPL has a history of closed encounters mostly in IPL finals. Just a single-run win over the other has happened many times. This can not be a real coincidence always. The team’s roles are suspicious in many cases, but this is not proof that IPL is a fixed event. Only assumptions won’t work. IPL fans are happy to see some sensational finals and match results in favor of their favorite team. But the story always has some other side. One can not comment on such events without any real proof other than what happened with 3 RR players in the 2012-2013 season due to match-fixing proven against them. Players like Sreesanth faced a lifetime ban from playing cricket during those days.

We never know how the matches turn out in favor of franchisees after having some dubious stands for winning. Again, this always attracts confusion and suspense for the rest of the world. Inside stories are not good to always listen to. Every team and their franchise expect returns in terms of a good win, an IPL title, and even having a pool of some of the greatest match-winning players with handsome payouts.

No doubt, then, they will expect and do certain things as a part of the business, at the end of the day.
